Q: What is Career Eagle?A: Career Eagle is a tool to help you navigate the vast and complex assortment of jobs and careers available. Real people make honest short videos telling you the truth about what their jobs are like and giving you the critical information you need to make career decisions. Q: Why should I make a video?A: There are a number of reasons why people make a video for Career Eagle. Here are a few:
Q: Why video?A: Information delivered via video is easier for young people to absorb than lengthy, wordy career guides. It would take much more time for you to write about your job than to talk about it on video.
Q: Does my video have to be three minutes long?A: No, you are the director of your video and you get to control the length. However, research has shown that people's attention level drops dramatically after three minutes. Therefore, we recommend you to keep your video under three minutes.
Q: Do I have to answer those three questions?A: No, you are free to talk about anything you think will be beneficial to the students in finding their future. However, the three questions we gave you were tested by market research and shown to best represent the current needs of students.Q: How do I go about making a video?A: Click on the Make a Video link in the navigation bar. It will take you to a page with instructions and a guide about how to make a video, equipment you can use and what you should talk about. In short, you can make a video on any type of home video equipment or web cam and upload your video on the site. Q: Who is going to see my video?A: Uploaded videos are available to the public to see. The goal is to share your knowledge and experience with everyone who needs it. Also, we have offered free access to San Francisco Unified School District (over 55,000 students). Your few minutes of time will be helping kids for years to come. Q: Are there certain videos that aren't allowed on the site? Yes. Videos that don't contain relevant subject matter or have offensive language are not allowed on the site. Q: Are these videos just marketing tools for companies?A: While some companies, primarily small businesses, do ask their employees to make videos, these aren't corporatized infomercials. The videos aren't professionally made. The people in the videos are not actors. No one is paying them to say anything. Each video has real people who took a few minutes out of their day to give you the facts you need to make a smart career choice. Q: Do I have control over my video?A: Yes, you can edit or remove your video from the CareerEagle site anytime. Simply log into your account and you will see your uploaded video under "Manage Videos".
